Description:

Every year a gol. Crossing the Pyrenees from west to east through the Aragonese territory, Lleida, France, Andorra and Girona on sleds pulled by dogs or skis.

The name of the race comes from the goddess Pirena that appears in the epic poem L’Atlàntida by Jacint Verdaguer. The first sleddog race was the Iditarod in Alaska, created in commemoration of an incident in 1925 when a sled had to go to the city of Nome with drugs to combat a diphtheria epidemic. Since immemorial time sled dogs were used to move people and materials on the snow and much later this activity would become a sport.

Since the beginning the sport of mushing has not stopped growing and expanding its practice in many countries, including Spain.
