Dhaka Art Summit opens and continues till April 15 in the city.
Art Foundation (SAF), in collaboration with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and Bangladesh National Museum (BNM), is organising the first Dhaka Art Summit (DAS).
The summit begins continue till April 15 in the city. The summit will be spread over 19 art galleries in Dhaka. The participating galleries are Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts, Bengal Art Lounge, Britto Arts Trust, Dhaka Art Centre, Drik Gallery, Gallery Chitrak, Gallery Cosmos, Gallery Jolrong, Galleri Kaya, Haque Art Gallery, Porapara Space for Artists, Radius Centre, Saju Art Gallery, Tivoli Art Gallery, Santaran Art Organisation and Interior Depot.
The inauguration programme holds at the National Theatre Auditorium, BSA. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurates the summit as chief guest. Farooq Sobhan, chairman of the advisory committee of Dhaka Art Summit, present as the special guest. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of BSA; Nadia Samdani, chief executive officer of SAF; artist Shahabuddin Ahmed, chairman of trustee board, SAF; Mahmood Sattar, managing director of the City Bank Ltd, deliver speeches at the inauguration.
Around 249 artists are taking part at the summit. The mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolour, prints (etching, acquaint, lino, litho, serigraph etc), installation, video art, videography, photography, sculpture and more.
SAF also present two awards -- Samdani Artist Development Award (worth Taka 10 lakh) and Samdani Young Talent Award (Taka 5 lakh).
