Anti-Lynas protest opposes processing plant in eastern Malaysia
Activists gather to protest against the Australian mining company Lynas Corporation opening and operating a plant in eastern Malaysia which will process rare earth minerals imported from Western Australia.
Participants began to gather shortly after Friday prayers and brought with them banners that read; “Solidariti hijau, Stop Lynas”, “Students Rejects Lynas” and “Green Malaysia, No to Lynas”.
The activists gathered to protest against the Australian miner Lynas Corporation operating a plant in eastern Malaysia, which will process rare earths imported from the Mount Weld mine in Western Australia
Anti-Lynas groups will take their campaign to mosques nationwide, hoping to break racial barriers and add support for their ongoing efforts to stop Lynas Corporation’s rare earth project in Kuantan.
