The Lalung tribal people of Assam celebrate during the Keshai Khaity festival held in the village of Nagaon in the Assam Valley. It is said that Keshai Khaity was established by the forefathers of the tribes in the year 1266 A.D.

As per the ritual of the festival the chief priest sacrifices a tortoise and birds to satisfy Goddess Kalika. This is one of the holy festivals of Lalung tribal community of Assam.
