Former House leader, Newt Gingrich made a strong bid for the Republican nomination at Church Landing, Meredith this evening -- Thursday. He called for major reforms to streamline Washington's iron triangle of bureacracy and said that no agency would avoid scrutiny -- including the Department of Defense, adding: "I may be a hawk, but I am a cheap one." Gingrich based his presidential ambitions not on hopes for personal power, but the desire to help America out of one of the worst crises in modern times.
Billling himself as the only candidate in the race who can beat Obama, Gingrich unveiled an ambitious project to challenge the President to 7, 3 hours debates. He underscored that if the Harvard Law graduate backed out of the proposal he would follow him around the country speaking after Obama at every venue next year. He added that, with decades of political experience, he was capable of designing a campaign that would derail the President's bid for a second term. Emphasizing his own professionalism, Gingrich said: "For the last four years we've had an amateur in the White House. In conclusion, Gingrich, asked the assembled audience to vote for him next Tuesday so his grandchildren, and all future generations, could inherit an America that they can be proud of.
